Balleh: Kapit Raft Safari

The Balleh-Kapit Raft Safari is a two-day rafting competition. Apart from the opportunity to win attractive prizes, participators will also have the chance to sample the warmth and hospitality of the people of Sarawak as their journey along the river.

Kaul Festival
April

KAUL is a traditional festival celebrated by the Melanau people, who live along the coastal plains of Sarawak. A Cultural Beach Festival, it is a ritual of purification and thanksgiving as well as one of propitiation for good fortune. Celebrated at the end of the northeast monsoon, it marks the beginning of the Melanau New Year.

World Harvest Festival

A colourful prelude to Gawai Dayak, Tourism Night is a showcase of Sarawak's many ethnic groups and their unique cultures. The famed Sarawak Cultural Village at the Santubong Peninsular, Kuching is the venue for music, dances and drama based on the life and legends of the Dayaks. Guests are invited to visit the ethnic homes in the Cultural village and to enjoy the local food.

Sarawak Regatta
September

Huge crowds gather on the Kuching Waterfront to watch this flagship event of Kuching. It is an offshoot of the Baram Regatta that was originally a contest between huge war canoes. They were first held on the Baram River to settle local rivalries without resorting to war and headhunting. The excitement of those warlike, bygone days is rekindled as the State's expert boatmen take up their paddles to prove their prowess. These days though, there is the added excitement of powerboat and jetski racing.
